This week, we decided to have a molecular lunch at Pierre Gagnaire in Seoul (last 35th floor of Lotte Hotel in Myong-dong).

Before this week, we used to go there for dinner :) ... like
-New year eve 2009 (merci papa, merci maman^^)
-Valentine day 2009

-My birthday 2009 .... that is where and when my boyfriend proposed !!!!! yyeaaaaahhhhhhhh :))))))

So I really love Pierre Gagnaire restaurant in Seoul for a lot of reasons !!

We choosed the 120,000 won menu ....
And began by some champagne ...

Then ...(it was all small portions...)

Just like Paris, Seoul is divided in 2 by a river....but here it is a huuuuuuuuge one, the Han river ...
On a few bridges of Seoul, you can find some interesting cafe with an incredible view
Like Aritaum cafe near Dangsan station 당산역 on the Ionghoa bridge 영화대교...

The only think to think about at the beginning of the bridge is to make sure to which twin cafe you wanna go as it is impossible to cross the street on the bridge !!

Both a cafe and design museum, cafe Aa in Hongdae 홍대 is the perfect place to relax ....
Their cafe latte is pretty good, I just wish it was not so noisy (=popular) ...
Open until midnight :) and each piece of furniture is different in the cafe !! Sooooo cute !!

A liiiiiiiittle bit far away from Sukkara is the newly open Koona cafe (next to Hongdae station 홍대역).
Very sweet with a nice design and friendly Korean owner.
And as it has enough place for 12 people max, it means it is a never noisy cafe... which is unbelievably precious for the super-mega-busy-hype-always-soooo-many-people Hongdae area ...

After 6 months, I find out about the great Japanese cafe Sukkara, juuuuuust next door of our apartment ... It is such a great place, with tasty drinks (soy cafe, soy cafe au lait, soy chocolate, soy tea, regular chocolate/cafe/tea ...Koreans say latte, Japanese say it the French way cafe au lait ... ) and macrobiotic foods. Yeaahhhhh.
Especially when the weather is VERY cold, it is very nice to go to this pretty next door cafe ...

Last week, with some Misuda 미수다 girls, we were invited by the most talented Korean designer Andre Kim to watch the musical River Dance.
We had our hair and make up done near Andre Kim shop at the great hair dresser Jakeun Chai 자근 차이 ^^
The musical was a great taste of Irish tap-tap dance, a lot of energy and gooood vibes !!!!

For a week I was in Paris.

After a healthy pizza diet, I switch to a cheese one ... with some peanuts (shopping break at Crillon hotel by far the best, Westminster hotel, Sofitel hotel, Versailles Trianon palace hotel) and some chocolate (Angelina, Maison du Chocolat) ...

We did not stop at Laduree because due to their huuuge success their quality of service became sooooo bad so we only took away some macaron :)

Since I came back from Japan, I looooove the crazy way they do 3D nails ever there, with little heart, bling bling and pearls ... sooooo pretty.
Like the thistlebelle nail salon in Singapore .... gorgeous !!

Seoul is damn good for jazz...
After a year in Korea, a few jazz clubs are on my top list for their ambiance, quality of live band and peanuts ... I am crazy for peanuts, full of fatty vitamins ...

My Seoul great jazz clubs are by preference ..... suspense ....

1/ Tokyo Jazz ... in front of the casino of the COEX. Samsong station (green line).
Blinshik the Great performs there on Tue/Wed/Thur/Fri. The international band (French piano player-American drummer-Korean bass player and Korean singer/owner) is terrrrrific. Best Jazz club of Seoul for sure^^.
Great peanuts...

2/ All that Jazz ...in Itaewon. Itaewon station, exit 1.
Great bands every night... cozy place...and Blinshik plays there some Wed.
Excellent veggie pizza ...no peanuts but Korean shrimp chips.

3/ Once in a blue moon ...in Apgujong, near Galleria shopping center. Apgujong station and waaaalk 15 minutes
Very chicissime, kind of a polite atmosphere ...
Tasty French champagne but noooo peanuts !!

4/ Soul to God ... next to Once in a blue Moon, up the hill
Nice bands, friendly owner... more expensive than Once in a blue moon

The weather is getting pretty cold around here ... so we basically move from cafe to cafe....

In Itaewon, the best and coziest one is Neals Yard, upstairs from samsonite, accross from Outback, near Tartine :)
It was my last Oregon Chai Latte .... ever.... a great happiness ....

In Coex, my favourite is the cafe of the Grand Intercontinental. A little bit pricy but sooooo quiet. Which is better than gold in a shopping mole environment... especially during sales....
One of my 2010 resolution is : noooooo milk
(no cheese, no cafe latte, no green tea late, no cappuccino, no hot choco, no Oregon chai latte = complete despair....),
so fresh fruit juices were a great tasty option....

Because one is not enough for a carrot ...

It is just that I went to Apgujeong (= the Korean Beverly Hills) for some Xmas shopping. And at Apgujeong subway station ... well .... a looooooot of advertisment for cosmetic surgery : from toe to face ...
And the before/after pictures are quite impressive ...

In Korea, a women has to be beautiful, which means pleasant body and asymetrical face, in order to be successful (which means get well married). Korean women go to see a surgeon as we go to see a hairdresser to change colour or hair style...
And to be honest, Korean surgeons are really really really impressive.

A common gift for a girl who gets accepted at the university is to have .... a cosmetic surgery ....
A perfect cute face has to follow a ...V line
A beautiful healthy body a ...S line

In case of cosmetic surgery, I always think about the husband who does not know his perfect wife had plastic surgery. Surgery does only change appareance, not DNA. So when they have kids .... ta laaaaaaaa .... the baby does not look as expected .... surpriiiiise .....

On the other hand, Miss Korea in order to be elected, has to be beautiful AND study in a prestigious school, like EWHA ...

Miss Korea 2009, Kim Juli 김주리, is really my favorite ^^ She is gorgeous and a ballerine at the Russian Bolshoi school ... woowwww...

There is no Agent provocateur shop in Korea but it can be ordered through their internet website ....
Under the Xmas tree will wait for me some delicate Agent provocateur luxurious lingerie...

Well, it is masky time ...

The beautiful book, Health and beauty from the rainforest : Malaysian traditions of ramuan, is "showcasing the best of Malaysia rich knowledge in ptomoiting health, enhancing beauty and creating vigor throughout a person's life."

"A healing mixture of medicinal plants and plant parts is referred to in the Malay language as ramuan. The word ramuan also denotes ingredients used for cooking. With multiple potent properties, including use in food, ramuan is seen as a force for healing, beauty and vitality."

For facial care, "historically, Malay women washed with fresh coconut water or rice water, as opposed to plain water, as they are thought to be more emollient and less drying for the complexion.

Then and now, Malay women use a special herbal powder known as bedak sejuk. Made from a powder of rice flour, jasmine roots and turmeric diluated with little rose water, this soft paste is patted lightly onto face and neck. [...] Dry complexions use the powder diluted with coconut oil or olive oil [...]."

I changed the recipe of bedak sejuk a little bit by using essential oil of Rose or lavanda instead of jasmine roots (as I cannot find it easily in Korea - snowing time)...
And alternating olive oil with abricot or rose oil ...

It smells sooooo good...
And my skin sooooo soft...

One good thing about our hotel was the Sunday jazzy brunch...such a good buffet with international and Thai cuisine, fresh coconut/papaye/watermelon drinks, cheese, tasty sweet cake or chocolate mousse... The jazz was really good.
And we were lucky to go in the evening at the jam session/anniversary that have once a year^^ with some great Blinshik performances...with nice American musicians...

As we met, as well, some sweet Russian jazz musician, we joined them later on for the Sunday jam session of the Bamboo bar of the Oriental hotel.

The next day, we did exactly the same jazz routine : aperitif at the grande Sheraton ...

...and digestif at the Oriental hotel ... with no diner in between ....

And the last day .... jazz teatime at the grande Sheraton....

A few days in Bangkok .... it was just heaven ....
Or hell, but a nice one ....

Around our hotel, the Suhkumvit grande Sheraton, was a small massage salon...
where we took a looooooong feet massage everyday...
Thai girls working there were so sweet and professional : the more we were having feet massage, the deeper relaxation we were getting from it... So Day3 last feet massage was by far the best^^

And around our hotel were numerous bookshop ...

So I got a few books, some about South Est Asia beauty.

Back from Paris and Leoux ... a healthier carrot thanks to FFJR

For a week, I went to Leoux, South of France.
A whoooooole week
Seven days walking and enjoying the nature
Fasting ...

Wanted to fast in Korea but too much Blinshik temptation...
So went back to Leoux, to the headquarter of Federation francaise de Jeune et Randonnee FFJR where I fasted for the first time a few years ago. This time was my 8th time (only drinking water)...

Some people says that fasting is dangerous for health. I know what is good for me, especially when I prepare my fast according to it (if 1 week of fast, I prepare my body 1week before and 1 after. If 10 days, 10 days before and 10 days after.... to prepare means no to eat salt, protein, sugar, cafe latte .... only vegetables/fruits/cereals)

After this week, I came back to Paris for another week :
-slim ( minus 5 kilos... I usually lose 4)
-face-tanned like a carrot (yyyeeaaahhhhhhh)
-with 1 resolution (begin to cook)
-with no more skin allergy on my hands (alleluia)

The day before I left, we had to brunch at Trianon palace hotel in Versailles. Waaaaoooowwwww.... Had not been there since 4 years, when I was a member of their fitness club. It is a magical place.

And ...I came back to Seoul (^.^)

It has been 1 year since we moved to Seoul, Korea.
And except Incheon (the airport), I did not go anywhere except Seoul ...>.< ...arrrgghhhhh
So by a beautiful sunny day, with Renoshi ... hooooop ...we went to the capital of the Shilla dynasty : Gyeonju (4 hours from Seoul)....

....to have a walk around the Tumuli : grass covered burial mounds. It is tombs of the Shilla monarchs and family members.

...to see the National Museum : a lot of these treasures were found in different Tumuli... and the special huuuge Emille Bell for Blinshik :)

...to go up to Seokguram grotto and Bulguksa temple : gorgeous and peaceful.

... and to almost enjoy a Live jazz club ... but it was closed since a few years ... Gyeongju coffeeshop are great^^

Some TV programs are really good to talk about well-being ... Thanks to my parents, I found out about the bien-etre program of Direct8. Everyday, some guests (doctors, writers, cooks...) debates about various well -being topics (body language, jalousie, healthy remedy...).

In the one I just saw on Direct8 website from Sept 23rd, Sophie Lacoste was invited to talk about simple natural and effective remedy to stay healthy or to solve some specific health problems.
She mentionned :
-the famous Dr Bach remedy to balance emotion
-the Tea tree essential oil for skin problem. In case of damdruff, some Tea tree essential oil with oil in massage of the scalp before the shampoo, purifies the scalp.

This program is very refreshing and is convient to watch as replay are available with the name of the guests and the list of products. Well, convenient if you are a French speaker...

It was unbelievable to find real Aloe Vera in Seoul. Actually unbelievable for a carrot.

A few months ago, I was looking for Aloe Vera gel bottle in a Natural Bio product shop of Abgujong but could not find it. Instead they sell real Aloe.

The shop closed >.< but my friend Iulia got me some today^^.

After cutting it, I use the transparant gel of the pulp directly on my skin or I drink it. No special taste so it is nice to mix with a fruit.

Thanks to it, the texture of my skin is much better. Not that it was horrible... but the texture looks definitely better.

I am still looking for Essential Oil but cannot find a trustable producter... Next door to my place, there is a healthy-style coffeeshop selling Chinese Essential Oil .... ah ah ah !!!! No way...
Florame is a great French brand I was looking for in Korea but their Korean distibutor is so weird and does not have the sweet clean natural image of Florame.

Old old old picture...when I was blond and carrot tanned ... in Kyrgyzstan ...

Since I moved to Korea, my skin is getting whiter (no more sun ㅠㅠ) and my hair darker ...

My hair were too damaged to get more color ... and needed special intensive care. The Japanese hair products Phiten are unbelievably good and make my hair look soooo silky. It only requires me to go to Japan regularly to get them :)

Leeum is a great museum located between the Hyatt and Itaewon. I wish I did not wait to move from Itaewon, after a year, to finally go there. It is a gorgeous gorgeous place.

Divided in 2 main parts : traditionnal art vs modern & contemporary art.

I only went to the Modern where it took me a little more than an hour to look at every single painting/sculpture with my audiophone. Korean and foreign. Pure happiness...

The other good thing about the Leeum museum is that they organize lectures about art regularly. In Korean.

Definitly have to try the Leeum coffeeshop as well.

Once upon a time in Ganghwa (West of Seoul) was built a Buddhist Meditation temple, the Lotus Lantern...

In Korea, a great number of temples (http://www.templestay.com/) welcome Korean and foreigners interested in Buddism. A temple stay begins on Saturdays afternoon and ends the day after. During 24 hours, like monks, we practice Korean Buddhism and zen. Aooooooommmmmm^^...

Sunday program

3:30 (morning...) - Wake up + zen practice

4:00 - 108 prostrations, reciting sutras and mantras, chanting + meditation
6:00 - breakfast in silence

7:30 - silent walk + help to cultivate vegetables

8:30 - tea ceremony with a monk

9:30 - calligraphy (copy of a sutra)

11:00 - ceremony

11:40 - lunch

It is a very happy experience in a beautiful place, the early morning meditation and silent walk in the woods being very special and peaceful.

But the 108 prostrations require to have a hot shower / go to the sauna / have a looong leg massage the next day^^.

The salon looks like a bouquet of red roses. And the sofas for the pedicure are soooooo comfortable, sooooooo cozy. And of course, they are exxxxxxcellent !

Yyyyyyeeesssssssss, from next month, I am going to teach Tibetan yoga in Itaewon^^.
Which is so different from Indian yoga.

The philosophy of the Tibetan yoga is that you are a monk who meditated for years. One day, you finish your meditation, wake up and ... move... slowly, conscious of every movement...
Little by little, everyday.

The streching is not the important part of it. The important part is to get more and more energy, to feel better and better. The streching will then come naturally.

Little by little, everyday.

The Tibetan yoga is the yoga of the stars (in the sky;) as it is very effective to practice it in the early morning when it is still dark and quiet. Your eyes looking at the stars. Repeating some simple and precise combination of movements while breathing and meditating.

These movements reequilibrate the body and especially the posture. Women like to do it to harmonize their body and men to get more energy when they practice KungFu or another fighting sport.

I learned Tibetan yoga when I was living in Kirghizstan (Central Asia). My Kyrgyz master learned it from a Chinese master, who learned it from .....It is a long tradition and an amazing sensation^^

Hidden in a back street of Itaewon is an oasis of well being.

Itaewon is not only a looong road with fastfoods, pubs or tennis shoes. When you leave this main road to go to small alleys, there are some magical places.

Curious Curious has just opened... It is a delicate small store with an atelier in the back. The owner makes barroco necklaces, "Annees folles" pearls, romantic earings... Sooo unique and chic. Today I got some feather barrette for my tomorrow pinup look^^

Thanks to the mosque in Itaewon, there are great Iranian, Turkish, Uzbek, Egyptian ... and Moroccan places to eat. When I say great, I mean real.
Especially the Marakech night cafe : hummus, falafel, lavash, lemon chicken, Moroccan mint tea... Perfect menu before going to sleep. And people working/owning this oasis are soooo sweet.

The Hwaseong fortress of Suwon is a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage.

Respect.

It was built betwee 1794 and 1796 during the reign of King Jeongjo, 22nd king of the Joseon dynasty. The fortress wall and the palace were destroyed during Japanese occupation. Most of it has been restored.

Today was a non-stop raining day, id est, a perfect day to do some in-door activities like Korean calligraphy.

For 4 hours, our teacher In-Yong Lee shows us the rules and the art of calligraphy, writing and drawing.

9 basics rules : clean brush, clean paper, clean inkstone, clean water, clean ink stick, clean hands, clean eyes, clean minds and clear surrounding.

Four precious plants can be drawn : plum-blossom, orchid, chrysanthemums and bamboo
Korean calligraphy is beautiful in every aspect : how it is done, the way it is done (the way to hold the brush and use it) and the result.

Patience required ....

Aujourd hui, il a plu non-stop, jour ideal pour une activite en-interieur, comme la calligraphie coreenne.

Pendant 4 heures, notre professeur In-Yong lee nous a montre les regles et l art de la calligraphie coreenne, l ecriture et le dessin.

9 regles de base : un pinceau propre, un papier propre, un encrier propre, de l eau propre, de l encre propre, des mains propres, des yeux clairs, un esprit clair et un environnement clair.

4 plantes precieuses peuvent etres dessinees : fleur de prune, orchidee, chrysantheme et bambou.

La calligraphie coreenne est superbe du debut a la fin : comment et la facon dont elle est realisee (la facon de tenir le pinceau et de l utiliser) et le resultat.

Besoin de beaucoup de patience...

It is a green tea latte happiness...

And there is a Paris Croissant to get some good green tea shake.

And there is a Mac Donald that delivers.

And it is opened 24 hours.

Le nom Kim's club ressemble à un nom de club de sport mais c'est un géant supermarché (alimentation, vêtements, pour la maison....)

C'est un paradis de thé vert latte...

Et il y a un Paris croissant pour prendre un shake thé vert

With a few days in advance on the schedule, we celebrated the French national day (14th July) at the French Embassy of Seoul with champagne & cheese...Aaaaaaah, a delicious healthy meal. I wish I undid the sewing of my blinshiki suit...

Avec quelques jours d'avance sur le calendrier, nous avons fêter le 14 juillet à l'ambassade française de Séoul avec champagne et fromage ... Aaaahhhh, un délicieux repas équilibré. Oh que j'aurais du découdre les poches du costume de mon blinshik...

Green apéritif on the balcony with a beauuuuuutiful sunset.

I have the juce maker but not the carrots...

The mosquitos are hungry as well. Soon have to hide in the appartment.

The weather is soooo hot/humid.

Taking the metro = taking a shower while watching a piece of movie on the phone / miniDVD / Ipod... of the neighbour

Bonus : skin face is 200% shinny.... but hopefully ... ta laaaaa....

Shopping night after some good cold Korean noodles .... aaahhhhh ..... life is great.

Actually, the shopping night was more like :

Step 1 : on the way to go to the Korean restaurant, I check (again) the dress in THE best clothes shop of Itaewon ( always crowded)

Step 2 : on the way back, hoooooop, the dress is in my pocket :))

Ce fut la soirée shopping après de tendres nouilles froides coréennes .... aaaahhhhh ..... la vie est fabuleuse.

En fait la soirée shopping s'est déroulé en 2 temps :

1ère étape : avant d'aller au resto coréen, un énième repérage de la robe dans LE meilleur magasin de fringues d'Itaewon (c'est simple, il est toujours bondé)

2ème étape : sur le chemin du retour, hoooop, la robe est dans ma poche :))
